SHINE Humanity is a tax-exempt public charity and maintains an office presence in Tustin, California. The agency’s officers are professionally qualified and highly experienced and are assisted by a dedicated staff, volunteers and interns.

Board

Dr. Faisal A Khan is Assistant Professor of Surgery at LLU School of Medicine. He is also Chief of Surgery at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Dr Khan has served as the Director of Surgery for the Peruvian American Medical Society Mission to Ayacucho, and heads out with his dedicated team annually to bring healthcare to remote areas of Peru. Dr Khan received his medical degree from the USC Keck School of Medicine and specializes in pediatric and general surgery.

Asim Ashary is founder and CEO of Manhattan Data, Inc. (MDI), a healthcare administration company based in Irvine, California. Prior to MDI, Mr. Ashary co-founded ppoNEXT, Inc.

He is a senior healthcare executive with two decades of experience in business operations, claims administrations, marketing, finance and MIS operations. Ashary has held senior executive positions with BPS Healthcare, Orange Coast Managed Care, Equicore Health Plans, Cigna Health Plans and Maxicare Health Plans. He has an MBA degree from Institute of Business Administration, in Pakistan, and has completed CPA coursework offered by AICPA.

Azhar Hameed is a serial entrepreneur whose last company, Gfk Etilize, is now part of one of the world’s largest Market Research Company, GfK, based in Nuremberg, Germany.

Having been trained in the fields of Computer Science from University of Oklahoma and Business Management from Anderson School, UCLA, he brings to SHINE’s Board not only the proverbial entrepreneurial energy and creativity but also the discipline and experience to help build projects from ground up and scale them to global heights.

Azhar, is committed to the cause of helping those in need. He leads the Los Angeles Chapter of The Citizens Foundation (TCF), which is one of the most reputed non-profits in the education section. Azhar is very well respected in the community as a social activist, philanthropist and avid golfer who has represented Pakistani Golfers Group as a team captain and organizer.

Dr. Naqvi is a leader in the field of Pulmonology with more than 25 years of experience. He served as the Chief of Staff at Kindred Hospital in Westminster, California, from 2006 to 2010, and currently, he is serving as the Chairman of Pulmonary Division at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, California.

He served on the board of Relief International from 2004 to 2010. He was awarded the Robert McCaffree, MD, Master FCCP Humanitarian Award from the American College of Chest Physicians in 2010 and the same year, was awarded the Humanitarian of the Year award from Canada-Pakistan Business Council Toronto, Canada. In 2015, he was awarded a humanitarian award by All Pakistani Physicians of North America (APPNA) California and in January 2017 Extraordinary Impact Award by Access California Services.

In October 2005, he played an instrumental part of earthquake relief efforts in Pakistan by helping to set up emergency medical facilities and earthquake-proof houses. He was among the cofounders of SHINE Humanity in 2009.

Dr. Anne Walker is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist who has a lifelong passion for global health. In medical school she spent eight months in Ghana, West Africa with six other medical students chosen from across the United States to participate in the first American Medical Student Association International Health Fellowship.

The program was designed to spawn an interest in the complexities of healthcare delivery in the developing world. Over the years she has volunteered with SHINE on humanitarian missions to Peru, Haiti, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. She currently is enrolled in a Global Community Health Master’s program at Johns Hopkins with plans to ultimately devote herself full time in humanitarian work.

Naila has been with SHINE Humanity since 2013. She has a background in Social welfare and is deeply involved in SHINE Humanity activities both here in the US and in Pakistan.

Faheem Khan has engaged in multiple endeavors through the 15 years of his professional career. Faheem has also worked for NOWPDP, which is an NGO helping People with Disabilities in Pakistan.

Zaheer has been with SHINE Humanity since 2013. He has held various positions with SHINE and is currently project manager at our Gharo clinic.
